Transferee To Apply Permanent Residence
Can permanent residency be granted from a TRANSFEREE visa, which is for a temporary stay?
TRANSFEREE visa may also be granted for PR beyond the originally planned period of secondment.
TRANSFEREE visa to Permanent Residency
Even if you are in Japan on a TRANSFEREE visa, permanent residency may be granted.
The TRANSFEREE visa is based on the premise that you will be seconded to Japan for a fixed period of time under the Immigration Law. Therefore, the Immigration officer will examine your PR application strictly since it is assumed from the beginning of obtaining the VISA that you will return to your home country.

However, if there are reasonable grounds, long-term renewal of a TRANSFEREE visa (e.g., residence as a TRANSFEREE for 10 years or more) is operationally permitted, and permanent residency is also permitted.
Choose the option that is most advantageous to you. Depending on your educational background (degree & school attended), annual income level at your place of employment, and Japanese language skills, you may be able to apply for permanent residency after as little as one year of residency, or if you are married to a Japanese national, after three years of marriage and at least one year of residency.
(1)As a general case (10years+ stay and 5years working)
(2)As a HSP status(HSP 70P+ 、80P+)
(3)As a Spouse of Japanese(3 years afetr marriage, more than 1year stay in Japan)
CAUTION for PR from TRANSFEREE visa
TRANSFEREE visa people may spend many days out of Japan on business trips to his/her home country or other foreign locations. If there is a long-term departure from Japan, the Immigration Bureau may consider that the person has not stayed in Japan continuously.
In addition, all income earned in or out of Japan, payment of taxes, and participation in pensions (in the case of countries with social security agreements, etc.) must be in compliance with Japanese laws and regulations. Of course, the visa must be for at least 3 years visa.
And, in principle, no permission will be granted if you return to Japan after the expiration of your secondment during the examination for permanent residency. You must live in Japan until the end of the examination to be permitted.
